As long as you have even the least bit of spiritual disrespect, it will always reveal itself in the fact that you are expecting God to tell you to do something very big, and yet all He is telling you to do is to “Come . . . .” .” ~ Oswald Chambers; My Utmost for His Highest – 10/8

Ah, the dilemma of entirely too many days! That resistance to the humility required to do the simplest thing! Come. As though we are some well trained hound dog! Why does it strike us like that? Pride!? Of course that is the only reasonable answer. Even a hound comes more out of devotion than training, or perhaps one could say that training fosters devotion. It is so with us as well. No one is born grateful, or considerate, or loving. We must be trained out of the selfish ways of the flesh, or else our lives will be lonely and chaotic!

Why is it so hard to make time for quiet communion with Him? Why is intimacy – real sharing of our real selves, warts and all – so difficult? We fear rejection. Pure and simple. And yet, the God of the universe, the Creator Himself, has not only NOT rejected us – HE has made a way for complete acceptance! Yet in the face of this unbelievable Love, we hang back like junior high kids at the first dance!

But let's face it. We can not obey unless we know what it is we should do. We can not know this unless we hear it stated. We will not do it, if we do not believe the One who is stating it. And we can neither hear, nor come to trust One whom we do not know! These are logical realities of how we humans work. God knew this, Yeshua understood it too. This is why His main commandment was “Come”.

We will either answer or we won't. But this is also logical, that our service for Him will directly reflect the time which we spend - or don't spend – with Him! We can not fake the anointing. We can cover the lack with charisma temporarily, perhaps. But the results will expose the truth. The Anointing to heal, to help, to change our very natures, comes only from HIM. The Anointed ONE. Will we come? Can we suffer the humiliation for the prize of His presence? The comand is there, hanging in the air, awaiting our response; “Come!”
