I want to pray for the easier way, but when my heart is still,
I know that I must always pray for You to have Your will!
For that is where Your Joy is found, from whence I draw my strength,
So whether we go long or short, I'll be fit to go the length!
I want to choose the smoother path, that looks well trod and sure,
but oft' I need the rocky climbs, where the air is clean and pure.
I surely want to follow You, whether high or low,
I never want to choose a path, where You'd be grieved to go!
And so, Good Shepherd, I take Your hand, and gazing in Your eyes,
I focus on my real desire, the one and only prize,
to fight the fight, to run the race, and when victory is won,
to turn and see Your smiling face, and hear You say, “Well Done”!
