Today is the Day – because - Things Have Changed

Yesterday began a New Year, in which I have expressed that sense of joyful expectation and eager anticipation. I can feel the pull in the positive direction, the upward current of God's blessing on my life. Somehow there is a sense of rightness, a knowing that a boundary line has been crossed into the promised land, that the wilderness is behind us now. Things have changed.

Suddenly, almost overnight, though that “night” has lasted for several decades, the dependence on the supernatural sustenance for daily needs has been traded for the ability to sow and reap, exponentially. Thankfully, to our relief and surprise, things have changed.

Maturity, Authority and Dominion or Ownership have replaced servitude, failure, humiliation and lack. Assurance and Peace have replaced striving and confusion. Wisdom has triumphed over foolishness, and love over selfishness. The flesh, at long last, has waved the white flag and surrendered to the authority of the Spirit. The Prince of Peace reigns supreme. Things have changed.

And today, after weeks and months of searching, we may have found the fellowship where our “puzzle piece” fits! A place where my Authority in Christ, my passion, my overt personality, is not feared or rejected. I was beginning to think that we would never find such a place (locally at least)! But just as I was about to relinquish my hope, it appeared, quietly and unobtrusively, as naturally as if it had always been so! Yes, things have definitely changed!

The time is now. The place is here. Today is the day to shake off the hesitancy of self doubt, and put everything out on the confidence of what God can do with and through us! Today is the time to launch out into the deep for a haul! Time is not getting any longer, in fact, time is running out. There is a set time for everything, as the writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us! A time for weeping and a time to refrain, a time for mourning and a time for dancing, a time for laughter and a time for tears, a time for peace and a time for war. Because we live in an imperfect world, those times sometimes over lap. But they seem to be getting more distinct and distinguishable. Those who are paying attention know, things have changed.

This year is a time for war, but also a time for victory! It is a time to enjoy the spoils of war, a time to harvest, and to rejoice in the fruit of that labor. It is a time to sow and to reap, and to repeat! It is a time to walk with God in the cool of the evening, while He congratulates us on our successes of the day, and downloads the plans for the next mission. It is a time to move forward and take more ground. We have secured the beach head, but the real war is far from over, the captives are not yet released. We have much work to do. But I say with Joshua and Caleb, I am well able to take this mountain! I should be! I've worn out many a Christian worker to get prepared for this day! (Lol You know who you are!) I have worked to submit to the boundaries which God has placed around my life. I have changed.

The writer of Romans tells us that the whole earth groans waiting on us to come into the Authority of a fully adopted, fully matured son, so that we can operate in the Dominion which our Father meant man to have on this planet. Jesus was in complete Authority, to the point where He had to lay His life down, for no one could take it, and it certainly wasn't because they didn't try! We are to walk in that same Authority. We are to do His works, we are to take up where He left off in destroying the works of the enemy! We are to bring His change.

Today is the day of Salvation. Today is the day of deliverance. Today is the day of maturity, holiness, perfection, and love that drives out fear. Today, He asks, will we harden our hearts as those did, who died in the wilderness? Or will we, like the faithful Joshua and Caleb, dare to trust Him to take us to victory – to the fulfillment of the promised land? Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the day, the day of change. It can also be called repentance, but it is change nevertheless. God is the only thing that never changes, because He is perfect. But if we are ever to attain to that standard we must change.

Our current president based his whole campaign on the concept of change, and now his avid liberal supporters are not so sure they like the direction in which his idea of change has gone. But the real change needs to come in the people of God, in those who are called by His Name. We can not display change in which we are unwilling to participate! We are to change from faith to faith, and from Glory to glory! We are to change from children to stewards, from students to teachers. We are to change from flesh directed to spirit motivated, from selfishness to love, from bound to free, from victim to victor. Are we willing to become what He is making us into? Until He comes change will be expected of us! Can we embrace it for His sake, and rejoice in the fact that today is the day, because things have changed! ~ Selah
