Isaiah 55:6-7 "Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked man forsake his way,and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him, And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For your thoughts are not my thoughts, nor your ways my ways, declares the LORD."

I think we Americans should take Him up on His offer of mercy while it still stands...we do not need to keep pushing the door closed in His face! I think we need to come to grips with the cold, hard, fact that our thinking is not as clear as we esteem it to be! I think we need to face the Truth that we can not please Him - nor come near Him - with our self-centered, humanistic, fleshly, sin-encrusted thought processes! We need to accept that we are doomed to an eternity without Him, unless we are willing to turn from OUR ways, thoughts, etc. to pursue HIS!

Currently Americans, and most of the "civilized" world, are drowning in the cess-pool of "post-modern humanism" - which is a politically correct way of saying that man has left the real God, and has fallen prey to the pride of putting himself in the place of God - or are running after gods of their own making! What an exercise in futility! What good is a god that we can manage! How is that going to take us any further than where we are? And yet, so many, stumble in this darkness - when the light is so close at hand! We must repent of this sin, and come back to Him, if we do not wish for destruction to continue haunt us, we should know that we are begging for utter devastation to fall on us.

God is not a God of wrath and hatred, however, the enemy of our souls looks for every opportunity to cash in on our rebellious ways! God will pull His grace back from us when we push it away! He will not force anything on us, even love and goodness! We are the ones who choose wrath for ourselves - by despising His grace! We are the one who pushes the good away, leaving only the evil for ourselves! You know what? We should stop doing this! That is what is called "repentance". And if we not only stop pushing His Goodness away, but begin earnestly seeking after Him, that is what is called "Teshuvah"!

When we return to Him - then His Word becomes the source of our thought processes, and obedience becomes the side-effect of those renewed thought processes - and blessing becomes the side-effect of that obedience! It creates an upward spiral of love and gratitude, a freshened atmosphere in which LIFE exists in its fullness. That is what He means by "Choose Life". His ways are NOT our ways! His ways, thoughts, etc. bring LIFE, while every choice of the lower nature will eventually lead to death! We can not truly be "pro-choice" without being "pro-life" - this is another trap, another lie of the enemy to ensnare us, to take us outside of God's grace! We should stop falling for that.

His Word is a lamp to our feet, and a light to our path! If we stay within the boundaries it sets forth, allowing its light to guide us, then we will not stumble into the traps of the enemy. He will make straight paths for our feet. He will shine His light on them for us. But He will never make us walk in them. That is up to us to choose.

"Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked man forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD....for He will abundantly pardon..." Abundant pardon sounds good to me...I think that is just what America needs right now....But, remember, His thoughts are radically different from ours...radically better....
