The Purpose and Redemption of Tears

(written for a dear friend this morning)

Tears are sometimes an outlet of pain, sometimes they're cleansing, as an early spring rain -

washing away negative emotions, and running them down to be lost in the ocean!

Sometimes they just mean our meter is full! Something has to run over, better quiet tears than loud bull!

Sometimes they just mean our LORD is so near, Sometimes we worship Him, in a quiet tear!

He is awesome, and gentle, and humble and true, and He catches each tear, He knows just what to do,

to encourage our souls, and make everything right, no tear is a waste, no minute of night,

that is lost on a struggle for finding His will, goes unnoticed, He catches them, holds them until,

we are ready to face what has caused us to lose - then each tear and each moment become weapons we use!

So snuggle up tight to Him and cry all you like! He will not waste a drop, He will put pain to flight!

He loves us all madly - though we can't always know, how that love will be shown, nor how it will all go!

We know that His grace is sufficient and true, and that it sustains all that we're going through!

So battle on soldier, and pray, sing and cry! This too will pass through, then our eyes will be dry!
